Welcome to the Internet home of Jay Cornwall. I am a 26 year old computing professional and hobbyist, currently living in London, UK. Since 2009 I have been employed as a HPC software engineer with VFX developers The Foundry. In my spare time I enjoy exercising my coding and system administration skills in open source software development and indulging in numerous online and offline gaming activities. I am a keen amateur fitness enthusiast and can be found on most weekends jogging through London's delightfully out-of-place Hyde Park. I am an academically and industrially skilled multi-platform C++ software developer, specialised in high-performance algorithm development and GPU acceleration (CUDA and OpenCL). A keen interest in computing has lent me experience in numerous other software technologies, including scripting languages (Python), assembly (x86), 3D rendering (OpenGL), networking (sockets), databases (SQL) and UI toolkits (Qt). Experience in Linux and UNIX-derivative administration pervades much of my work. When I am not developing software I can be found gaming online in the massively multiplayer EVE Online universe, or relaxing in more casual offline games. I have a 20 year history of gaming, rooted in the 8-bit era, with 5 year stints in both Planetside and EVE Online. My gaming PC is entirely hand-built, for both the love of construction and an optimum component selection. |
